Day 31 Newton, Illinois (0 bike miles); 2138 cumulative miles

Today was our first complete washout, but an enjoyable day nonetheless. In the morning we consulted with ace meteorologist, Judy Ortman, who said there might be 2-4 hour window starting around 10:15 am where we might be able to bike. We went into town to the library where we had internet access, then donned our bike clothes, anxiously waiting for the rain to stop. Several times we were teased as the rain would stop, only to start up several minutes later.

We played several hands of euchre, with Charlie constantly mopping up water dripping in seemingly from the window. Later I climbed on the roof to discover a tear in the rubber roof, which I patched temporarily with duct tape.

It was then back to the library, for our internet access and the opportunity to catch up on the blog. Charlie successfully uploaded a couple of videos to his blog, and I was also able to upload the video below.
